Chairman’s Message – September

6 Sep, 2021, 2:24 AM

I hope everyone is as well as can be expected given our current restriction impositions.

Obviously our Club still remains completely closed and at this point it is unclear when we will be allowed to re-open.

Even when we do open the doors it is apparent there will still be certain restrictions on our operation for some time during the remainder of 2021.

It is quite frustrating to see the pristine condition of our Green and not being allowed to take advantage of it during the nice sunny days in August.

Ian Thege is keeping abreast of Bowls Victoria attempts to re-commence bowling and will keep us informed of any positive signs during the coming weeks.

The Board have been continuing to liaise where possible and we held our August Board meeting as scheduled via Zoom.

Our planning submission for the Green lighting is now with the Council and as expected this could prove quite time-consuming in clarifying various technical aspects.

The wipe-out of all Club revenue activities has again necessitated a harsh consideration of all expenditure areas and this will be on-going.

We are also reviewing all possible options for re-opening based on possible limitations regarding density numbers, masking, entry controls, Covid Marshalls, facilities necessary etc.

Another possibility also to be strongly considered is whether we should restrict Club entry to only people who have been double-vaccinated, and the Board will decide upon this when necessary.

On a brighter note we have been able to gain some welcome financial support grants through the State and Federal Government and continue to closely keep abreast of these areas of relief.

Our Bowls Committee are also working-on behind the scenes but scheduling of forthcoming events is constantly being reviewed and changed, causing much frustration.

A high priority for the Committee is to continue with formulating action plans to increase Club membership and all members are asked to be involved where possible.

Please keep safe and we look forward to everyone enjoying getting together back at the Club soon.
