CHAIRMAN’S DECEMBER MESSAGE
We now approach the end of an eventful 2020, much of which proved very difficult for all of us. Thankfully we received no advice that any of our members or families were struck with the deadly Covid 19 virus.
Our Club has been through a very worrying period with an enforced closure then semi-closure for much of the year. Financially we have limped through aided by healthy cash reserves and Government assistance with Jobkeeper and various Club Grants. Many thanks to Steve, Glen and Walter for the support they provided , much of it well above their normal duties.
A particular positive in this period has been the emergence of our new green which has received wide-spread praise. Special thanks to Brett (Cutter) for his expert installation and ongoing nurturing. We now have a top class green available to substantially increase our usage throughout the year.
Thanks again to our very supportive Bowls committee. Obviously we have all been deeply upset regarding the resignation of Gabrielle and Peter Lee from our Club. Gabrielle and Peter have put in an enormous amount of time and effort in numerous key roles and we thank them sincerely. Hopefully after a break we may see them both back at our Club, they will always be truly welcome.
Many thanks to my fellow Board members for their input and continual support during a trying year. A number of initiatives have been formulated during our closure period, made difficult by the overall closures of business in many services. A very positive sign since re-opening has been the exciting growth in barefoot bowls activities, a great stimulus around the Club.
Finally I would like to thank you all for your loyalty and wish each of you and your families a very merry Christmas and a happy Festive season.
See you all in 2021.
Peter Bennett – Chairman
